Revolon or Loreal. I am coloring my hair for the first time and need help. If I swim in clorinated water will it ruin the color?

Neither first you sent me a huge red flag and I really hope for the sake of your hair you take my advice. If you are going to color your hair for the first time do not I repeat DO NOT use box color from the store. if it is your first time box color is not going to last long it will fade within a week or two and it doesn't fade back to your original color oh no that would be too simple it fades to a yucky washed out combinationof the new color you wanted and your original color. then your going to run back to the store and get the same stuff and redo it so your killing your hair twice as much! I know you might not want to spend the money but go to the salon they custom make every bowl of color to suit you which is what you need especially sinceit is your first time.

as a Hairdresser im not quite sure about the brands....But I do know that chlorine can cause it to be a lighter shade. Box color is not as strong as professional color. I hope this helped you

Both work just as well. I want to worn you, the chlorinated water is going to wash the dye off rather quickly. I swim also and that's my problem. People tell me to use a cap, but water seeps through any way.

Both of them are good, but I prefer the Revelon. You can swim with it after you dye your hair, but I'd at least wait 24 hours just to make sure. It's better to be on the safe side, right?

I personally don't use either for very good reasons. Revlon fades like crazy and the coverage isn't good at all. L'Oreal tests their products to the extreme of deformation on animals. If it deforms bunnies, then I don't want it on me or near me.

In a pinch, I use Garnier to color my hair. It performs as well as salon quality color. The coverage is really good, and our chlorination in the water where I live is pretty high, and I really haven't seen a lot of fading.

As a warning, red color fades faster than any other color. The only way to prevent that is with color replacement shampoo or treatments.
