Loreal Preference. Is it really fade resistant?

I'm coloring my hair at home ( and yes I know how to do it, and I do it myself because salon colors always wash out of my hair in 1 wash and they ALWAYS get the color wrong) sometime before next week, but I don't want the color to fade and I bought the Loreal color for this purpose because it said it was fade resistant...Or is it only fade resistant if you combine it with color protectant shampoos? I usually use Tresemme, deep cleansing. Would it be worth it to buy a protecting shampoo instead or will the color hold up to it's label?

No color is completely fade resistant. It does last longer if you use color protecting shampoos and conditioners, but it will still fade. Reds tend to fade faster than other colors... The one thing you DON"T want to use is a deep cleansing shampoo, it strips impurities out of your hair.. meaning it WILL strip color out too!!

Some colors, such as red, just fade more than others, but all the L'Oreal products are good. The problem you've had with fading is because of your deep cleansing shampoo. Deep cleansing can mean deep color stripping. Stick with a more gentle, color safe shampoo/conditioner and you will get more life out of your haircolor, no matter what brand of haircolor you use.

yes,it would be worth it to buy a a shampoo for a color treated hair. now i have never tried Loreal preferance fade resisitant but it would seem to me if your hair color fades pretty quickly with salon coloring that you should really consider shampoo for color treated hair. i have used the loreal brand and it works wonders on keeping your hair color alot longer! all hair color fades the lighter u go theres really nothing to fade only the root problem any thing dark especially reds will fade faster also the more u wash your hair the more it will fade biolage makes a really good color shampoo and conditioner also farouk silk therapy it's a color sealent i beleive it is green and this is a awesome line of products you can some times catch alot of theese on sale at your local walmart there is a beauty salon called smart styles inside theese supercenter walmarts regis in the mall owns theese salons good luck

i've colored my hair by myself quite often.. loreal preference is my favorite, it's a good product, easy to apply and doesn't fade easily
